Important Tax Information

No State Income Tax, BUT....

One primary way Texas raises money for the State's budget is on the basis of 'ad valorem' taxation, in other words, a tax based on a property's market value. As the Texas market continues to increase so does the tax levy. This tax is a substitute to a State Income Tax.
Obviously in order to provide for state services, highways and education, for example, taxes must be levied. In Austin and the surrounding areas this tax rate approximates $2.50/100 to $2.75/100 in assessed value. Thus an assessment of $200,000 would mean annual taxes of $5,000 to $5,500. All properties are appraised annually with values going up or down (usually up). By the same token the tax rate may go up or down.
Each year property owners are given a notice of value and with the notice the right to protest value. Knowing the appraisal process, the rules and the most effective way to argue value, affords one a more equitable tax burden.

"Fight Your Texas Tax Appraisal & Win" is the most complete guide available today to assist you in the protest process. By reading the book you will learn:

1. There's more than one way to protest value.
2. Principle factors affecting value.
3. 18 Steps in presenting evidence that will WIN!
4. 'How to' develop comparative values.
5. About 'informal' meetings & 'formal' hearings & what's best?
6. How not to leave money on the table!!

YOU can level the playing field.....
